Aktif Bank will be the first bank in Turkey to meet its own energy requirement by making use of its own Solar Power Plant:
Having financed approximately 315 MW renewable energy projects in the fields such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, biogas since 2017, Aktif Bank now makes a decision to invest in its own solar power plant to meet its own energy requirement. Aktif Bank will, thus, be able to satisfy its total energy consumption, originating from its head office, subsidiaries and branches, by means of renewable resources. Thanks to its long-standing experience, high and good quality turnaround performance and financing power in the energy industry, Aktif Bank will make energy cost saving of at least 10 million TRY and higher on yearly basis.
Highlighting that they are proud of taking a step in the wake of becoming the first bank in Turkey to meet its own energy requirement by means of its own Solar Power Plant, Aysegul Adaca, the CEO of Aktif Bank, remarked; "The pandemic we have experienced demonstrated to us that the sustainability of our world is of vital nature. The energy crisis, being experienced in Europe, even reveals the materiality of reduction of the foreign-source dependency at the present time where carbon emission become more of an issue. As based on such understanding and the power we gain from our profound experience in the energy industry, we now decided to build our own Solar Power Plant and quickened our steps in this aspect. Our objective is to meet our entire energy requirement, originating from our head office, subsidiaries and branches, from renewable resources by making use of our solar power plant with a power generation capacity of 1.15 MWe/1.35 MWp. Thus, we aspire to prevent 13 thousand tons of carbon emission during the next decade, as well".
